BB Journey

BB Journey

My old our elementary school had an annual spring fair. When I was in 4th grade (Rory was in 1st; Logan was in Pre-K), East West karate came to our spring fair to promote their karate school and they offered a chance for kids to try board breaking. Rory and Logan tried it and completely fell in love with it and when we got home, they begged my parents to sign them up for karate. My mom called East West and Action Karate Jamison, Sensei Michael responded to my mom first, so Rory and Logan went with my mom to Action Karate to see if it was fit for them and if they wanted to commit to karate. At that time, I was away at overnight camp. My mom signed Rory and Logan up for classes and when I got home from camp, my mom broke the news to me that she signed me up as well. I had no interest at all in taking karate classes, but I didn’t have a choice.
I didn’t enjoy karate for the first few months, so I would say my biggest struggle was really just going to class. But, after a little bit of time, I started to really enjoy karate and have had many triumphs: I was invited to join black belt leadership, I started helping out with the Ninja Shark class, I was offered the opportunity to help at the AK Chalfont summer camp, I have been invited to help at AK Jamison camps and birthday parties, and a few months ago, I was invited to join the demo team!!!!!! Now, after about 3 years, I am testing for my black belt and I’m so glad that my mom made me start karate.
