My Karate Story
By: Connor Carnahan

When my family moved to Jamison, I was 4 years old. I wanted to do karate at Action because I liked the shark. Once I started my classes, I realized it was hard work and doing karate was not about the shark. The classes got harder and harder and harder. When I got my camouflage belt, I was so proud of myself. Every time I got a new belt, I liked rubbing the sweat into the new belt because it was a sign of my hard work. When I got the last belt in the ninja shark class, I was ready to move up to the big kid class.
My first day in the big kid class was scary. The kids were bigger than me. I was worried that it would not go well. I paid attention and the class went fine. After a few months, I promoted to black belt leadership and got my red gi. It made me happy because I got to use weapons. That is why I like to be in black belt leadership. My favorite part of black belt leadership is learning new things.
Sometimes I get nervous for karate. I would get nervous for tournaments being in front of a lot of people. Even though I was nervous I did not give up. Instead I had the courage to compete because I worked hard in class.
I have learned a lot in karate over the last 5 years. I am excited to earn my junior black belt and start training for my senior black belt.
